Cupertino, Calif. – Apple (NASD: AAPL) announced on Thursday that it plans
to launch its Mac App Store in 90 countries on Jan. 6.

"The App Store
revolutionized mobile apps," said Apple CEO Steve Jobs. "We hope to
do the same for PC apps with the Mac App Store by making finding and buying PC
apps easy and fun."

The Mac App Store will feature both paid and free
apps, across categories such as Education, Games, Graphics & Design,
Lifestyle, Productivity and Utilities.

Mac developers will be able to set their
own prices for their apps, and will not be charged for offering free apps.
Apple will keep 30% of sales revenue from paid applications.
