Palo Alto, Calif. – AOL (NYSE: AOL) announced on Tuesday that it will
acquire about.me, a service that lets users create a single profile page that
links to all of their other online profiles.

Financial terms of the transaction
were not disclosed.

Palo Alto, Calif.-based about.me was launched in 2009 by
Tony Conrad, who also sold his previous start-up, Sphere, to AOL.

Conrad will
join AOL’s Consumer Applications Group.

"about.me is more than just the
aggregation of social profiles, it allows people to easily express themselves
in an increasingly noisy environment full of disparate social experiences,"
said Brad Garlinghouse, president of AOL’s Consumer Applications Group.

About.me’s
backers included True Ventures, Ron Conway, Radar Partners, Freestyle Capital
and Founder Collective.

AOL also acquired StudioNow, 5min Media, TechCrunch,
Thing Labs and Pictela in 2010.
