Las Vegas – Microsoft (NASD: MSFT) said on Thursday that an upcoming
software update for its Kinect motion-sensing game controller will enable users
to navigate Web services such as Netflix, Hulu Plus and the company’s own Zune
Marketplace using hand gestures and voice commands. Separately, the company —
which said it has sold 8 million Kinects to date — said it will release a new
Avatar Kinect feature, that will use facial recognition to let a person control
their avatar’s movements and expressions.
