Palo Alto, Calif. – Qwiki, a service that generates interactive
video content on-the-fly from audio, text and animated photos sourced from the Web,
has raised $8 million in its first round of financing, TechCrunch reported.
Investors
included Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin, YouTube co-founder Jawed Karim,
Pradeep Sindhu, Greylock Discovery Fund, Lerer Ventures, Tugboat Ventures and
Contour Ventures.
Founded in 2009, Palo Alto, Calif.-based Qwiki’s service is
still in private alpha, but the company is developing an iPad application.
