Los Angeles – GeekChicDaily, the publisher of a pop culture
email newsletter, announced on Tuesday that it has raised new funding.

The
investment round, which a source close to the deal said totaled "around $2
million," was led by Revolution Studios founder Joe Roth, and Mike Slade.

New investors Mark Surfas, Kathy Vrabeck and Allen DeBevoise, and previous
backers Robert Pittman and Andrew Russell also participated in the investment
round.

Pittman and Russell previously backed email newsletters DailyCandy,
Thrillist and Tasting Table.

Founded in 2009, GeekChicDaily’s newsletter
focuses on comics, video games, film, television, applications, toys,
collectibles and gear.

The company will use the new funds for infrastructure,
further brand extension and marketing of the daily publication.

In addition to
the financing, the company also announced that it has entered into a strategic
partnership with Legendary Pictures.
