Los Gatos, Calif. – Online DVD rental and video streaming
service Netflix (NASD: NFLX) added 3.08 million new subscribers during the fourth quarter of
2010, up 166% from the 1.1 million added in the same period a year earlier.

The company ended 2010 with 20 million subscribers, an increase of 63% from 2009.

The total
subscriber count bested the company’s October prediction of 19.7 million.

For
the fourth quarter, Netflix reported earnings of $47 million on $596 million in
revenues, up 52% and 34% from the same period in the prior year, respectively.
