Taoyuan, Taiwan – Mobile phone maker HTC announced on Monday
that it has made a strategic investment in Saffron Digital, a provider of
mobile multimedia delivery technology.

Financial details were not disclosed.

London-based
Saffron has provided its mobile media delivery technology to products made by
Nokia, Sony Ericsson, HTC, LG and Samsung, and services to clients including
Sony Pictures, NBC Universal, Paramount, 20th Century Fox and Vodafone.

"HTC’s
investment increases our global expansion capabilities and provides us with an
opportunity to expand into new markets like Asia and new sectors like games and
music delivery," said Saffron Digital CEO Shashi Fernando.
