Los Angeles – Copyright infringement lawsuits filed against
more than 6,000 alleged downloaders of an adult film produced by
"Hustler" publisher Larry Flynt Productions have been dismissed for
improperly joining the defendants into a single lawsuit, TorrentFreak reported.

U.S. District Judge Royal Furgeson ruled that "merely committing the same
type of violation in the same way does not link defendants together for
purposes of joinder," adding that "joinder is improper in this case
because each Defendant will also likely have a different defense.

The attorneys
who sued more than 6,000 alleged downloaders of "This Ain’t Avatar
XXX" as "John Does" — seeking to obtain their real identities from their
Internet service providers — will now have to sue each individual separately
in order to continue with their copyright claims.
