Santa Monica, Calif. – Mahalo, the developer of a
human-powered search engine, has laid off 10% of its employees, in the wake of
Google’s efforts last week to devalue low-quality content in its search
results, PaidContent reported.
Mahalo CEO Jason Calcanis and president Jason
Rapp said the move by Google "led to a significant dip in our traffic and
revenue."
In addition to the layoffs, the company is "pausing"
its work with freelancers.
