Los Angeles – A number of studios plan to test a premium
video-on-demand offering that will charge $30 to rent movies at home that have
left theaters but not yet been released on DVD, All Things D reported. Studios
owned by Time Warner (NYSE: TWX), Sony
(NYSE: SNE)
, Comcast (NASD: CMCSA) and News Corp. (NYSE: NWS) will participate in the
initial roll out to DirecTV (NYSE: DTV) and Comcast subscribers.
