San Bruno, Calif. – Google’s (NASD: GOOG) YouTube on Friday announced the
launch of YouTube Live, which will initially offer a limited set of users the
ability to stream live video via the site.

The company previously experimented
with live streaming, offering concerts, sporting events and interviews on a
one-off basis.

YouTube said that live streaming capabilities will initially be
limited to "certain YouTube partners with accounts in good standing,"
but that its goal is to provide "thousands" of partners with the
feature in the months ahead.
