Waltham, Mass. – Zixi, the provider of a cloud-based video
distribution service that promises broadcast-quality HDTV worldwide, announced
on Monday that it has raised $4 million in new funding, led by Schooner
Capital.

Former Scientific Atlanta CEO Sidney Topol and CNN co-founder Maurice
Schonfeld also participated in the investment round.

Waltham, Mass.-based Zixi’s
service is used by network operators, video-on-demand services, broadcasters
and device manufacturers to deliver HD content securely over the Internet.

The
company will use the funds to hire additional staff.
