Los Angeles – Nintendo plans to cut the price of its Wii
video game console from $199 to $150 on May 15, Engadget reported, citing a
"trusted source."

The report notes that the timing of such a
prospective announcement is odd, given the game industry’s Electronic
Entertainment Expo (E3) is held in June.

Nintendo reported declining profits
for the 2010 holiday shopping quarter, due in part to weaker sales of its Wii
consoles, and at that time lowered its fiscal year sales forecast for the Wii
to 16 million from 17.5 million units.
