Sunnyvale, Calif. – Silicon Image, a developer of
high-definition connectivity technology for consumer electronics, said on
Thursday it will pay $25.5 million in cash and stock to acquire SiBeam, a
developer of high-speed wireless communication products for uncompressed HD
video.
The deal is expected to close by mid-year.
"SiBeam’s 60GHz wireless
technology will enable us to rapidly bring the highest quality of wirelessly
transmitted HD video and audio to market," said Camillo Martino, the CEO
of Silicon Image.
