Tokyo – Norio Ohga, the former president and chairman of
Sony credited with spearheading the development of the compact disc, died on
Saturday at 81, Reuters reports. Ohga, who led Sony from 1982 to 1995, also
oversaw the company’s $3.4 billion acquisition of Columbia Pictures, and its
initial foray into the video game business.
