Cincinnati, Ohio – The Travel Channel, owned by Scripps
Networks, has invested $7.5 million in hotel reviews site Oyster.com, The New
York Times reported.

Previous backer Bain Capital Ventures also participated in
the company’s second round of funding.

Founded in 2008, New York-based
Oyster.com employs professionals to pen hotel reviews, and shares a cut when
its reviews lead to bookings.

The service currently covers 14 North American
cities, but plans to expand to smaller markets and also internationally.

The
site will now be promoted via Travel Channel’s on-air and online properties.
