Los Angeles – Mobile music sales, including songs, ringtones
and music videos, fell 28% in 2010 to 221 million units, Billboard reported,
citing the Recording Industry Association of America’s (RIAA) year-end shipment
statistics.

Ringtone sales plummeted 41%, while ringback tone sales fell 26%
and sales of full tracks on mobile devices via online stores were down 23%.

While the number of subscribers to online music services was up 25% from 2009, from
1.2 million to 1.5 million, label revenues derived from such services fell 5.7%
in 2010 to $201 million.
