Los Angeles – Streaming music service Spotify, which has
delayed a planned U.S. launch due to thorny licensing talks, has managed to
land deals with a number of major studios to offer streaming movies, TechCrunch
reported, citing an industry source.
The deals reportedly would give Spotify
worldwide access to movies in the window used for hotel pay-per-view, weeks
after a theatrical opening.
Spotify CEO Daniel Ek denied the report, via
Twitter.
"No it ain’t true. Media these days are funny. Soon I’ll be
reading that Spotify is launching a space rocket."
TechCrunch noted that
Ek "said that in the past about a number of our stories, all of which
turned out to be accurate."
