San Francisco – Twitter has acquired TweetDeck, the developer of a third-party Twitter client, in a deal valued at more than $40 million, CNN Money reported, citing sources close to the deal.
San Francisco-based Twitter previously acquired mobile Twitter client Tweetie.
Since its founding in 2008, London-based TweetDeck has raised nearly $4 million in venture capital financing, from backers including Betaworks, The Accelerator Group, and individual investors including Ron Conway and Howard Lindzon.
