New York – Tapad, a provider of mobile advertising “retargeting” technology, has raised $1.8 million in new funding.

Investors included Metamorphic Ventures, Firstmark Capital, Lerer Ventures, and individual backers David Rosenblatt, David Kidder, Geoff Judge, Brian O’Kelly, Dave Morgan, Scott Switzer, Michael Yavonditte and Barry Silbert.

New York-based Tapad was founded by Are Traasdahl, the founder and CEO of mobile entertainment firm Thumbplay.

The company’s ad retargeting technology displays ads to a user based on sites they have visited in the past.

Tapad’s services support the Android platform currently, and the company plans to add support for Apple iOS devices next week.
