Burlington, Mass. – Nuance Communications, a provider of voice and language technology, announced on Thursday it has acquired SVOX, a privately held provider of voice technology for in-car systems and consumer electronics.
SVOX, based in Switzerland, was partly owned by smac partners/Germany, another well established voice technology company.
The combination of Nuance and SVOX’s technology will advance the proliferation of voice in the automotive market, and accelerate the development of new voice capabilities that enable natural, conversational interactions between consumers and their cars, mobile phones, and other consumer devices, according to the announcement.
Nuance Communications also announced on Thursday that it has completed its acquisition of Equitrac, a provider of intelligent print management and cost recovery software.
