Maynard, Mass. — Monster.com, one of the world’s largest online job sites, has opened its doors to Facebook by offering its users BeKnown — an app that enables users to set up a professional network on the social networking site.

Set to launch on Monday, the app will allow Monster users to import their data and set up a professional network within Facebook.

Monster, which has nearly 38 million visitors a month, finds Facebook to be an advantage since the multi-billion dollar company already has about 700 million active members.

“This is the path of least resistance,” Matthew Mund, Monster Worldwide Inc. global vice president of product, said. “You can manage your professional identity and your social identity in one place.”

BeKnown might face a challenge according to Mashable, since professional social networking site LinkedIn is established in this space, having attracted over 100 million users since its launch in May 2003.

Though similar to LinkedIn, the app promises features that are unique from other companies.
