Mountain View, Calif. — Google is in preliminary talks of buying Hulu, according to the Los Angeles Times, citing sources familiar with the discussions.

Hulu, an online video subscription service, reportedly presented their financial information to potential buyers this week after an unsolicited expression of interest prompt the board to consider selling the company, the Los Angeles Times said.

“For Google to be able to buy the access that Hulu has to that content would give Google the opportunity to build an audience and show programmers that they know how to deliver content in ways programmers might ultimately be happy with without having to do a single negotiation,” said Forrester Research analyst James McQuivey.

Tony Wible, a Janney Capital Markets analyst, suspects Hulu may seek around $2 billion for the company. A Hulu spokesperson has not commented on the potential deal.
