Los Angeles, Calif. — Diversion Inc., a social gaming studio, raised an undisclosed amount in a Series B funding round from Google chairman Eric Schmidt’s Tomorrow Ventures, Michael Eisner’s The Tornante Company and Hearst Corporation on Friday.
Diversion also announced a $1 million advertising deal with Sony Pictures and the launch of its The A List, the company’s newest social game, on Facebook.
Founded in 2010 by CEO Dayvid Iannaci, lead developer Chris Bruce, chief technology officer Amir Aleem and vice president of content Jason Carlton, the company raised $300,000 earlier this year in seed funding from The Tornante Company.
The company reports an average of around 480,000 monthly active users and is ranked 480 on AppData’s Leaderboard.
Diversion plans to use the additional funding to continue developing entertainment-based social games and to expand the company’s scope.
