Taiwan — HTC Corp. announced today its acquisition of Dashwire Inc. for $18.5 million.

The Seattle-based company offers a number of social, consumer and device management software services for easy setup and personalization of their mobile devices. Dashwire’s technology is available to mobile retailers, device makers and operators.

HTC”s acquisition would help boost HTCSense.com mobile cloud services offering, and it will give the company some useful patents and related intellectual property.

“Cloud services are key to delivering the promise of connected services to our customers,” said Fred Liu, president of engineering and operations, HTC Corporation. “People want access to all of their important content wherever they are on any device. The addition of Dashwire’s cutting-edge sync services and deep mobile cloud experience strengthens our ability to deliver these services in a more powerful way.”

Dashwire is backed by a number of investors, including Best Buy Capital — the company’s biggest investor. The company was founded by CEO Ford Davidson and raised $1 million in debt financing last year.
