Meltwater Group completed its acquisition of the Mark Cuban-backed search engine IceRocket, and now has updated its Meltwater News platform. The company’s product suite now provides companies enhanced integration with Meltwater’s social media monitoring service, Meltwater Buzz, and its media contact database, Meltwater Press. All customers will receive the upgrades automatically.

Among the new features is a dashboard that gives an overview of article sentiment, geographic details, influence and frequency, as well as algorithmic analysis to identify the most accurate coverage.

All of IceRocket’s employees joined Meltwater with the acquisition earlier this month, and IceRocket continues to operate as a stand-alone search engine.

In addition to IceRocket, Meltwater acquired social CRM company JitterJam in March 2011 and BuzzGain in 2010. Meltwater CEO and founder Jorn Lyseggen said the company intends to acquire more businesses and technologies to help further expand its product suite.

As of June 2011, Meltwater Buzz was used by 4 percent of U.S. marketers for social monitoring. The same study, by RSW/US and Web Liquid, said 7 percent used Radian6 and the majority (46 percent) used Google Alerts.
