Kia Motors America now offers cars equipped with digital HD Radio, the AM/FM/data broadcasting technology from iBiquity Digital Corp. It is now reaching showrooms in 2012 model year Optima, Sorento and Sportage vehicles, and it will become available in the Kia Soul later this year with others to follow.
Adding HD Radio helps meet consumers’ expectations for more technologies in their cars and a more entertaining listening experience, according to Michael Sprague, vice president, marketing & communications, KMA. “Responding to the marketplace and offering advanced technology options such as HD Radio, strengthens Kia’s value proposition that features a combination of style, technology, performance, safety in Kia Motors’ critically acclaimed lineup of vehicles.”
HD Radio Technology improves audio quality and adds additional local FM channels known as HD2, HD3 and HD4s, along with program Service Data, which displays song title and artist name on the radio screen with no monthly or other fees.
