Canadians have a new online entertainment destination with today’s launch of CBC Live, which kicks off with companion programming for the 26th Annual Gemini Awards this evening. The centerpiece live stream is being hosted by actor, comedian and personality Tom Green, and it will be available on demand to the television broadcast.

CBC Live already has an exclusive interview with Russell Crowe posted, indicating the international reach of the CBC brand. It also has plans in place to bring its audience original coverage and programming around the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), the CCMA Awards and the national Culture Days celebrations, with opportunities for fan engagement and special guest appearances.

“At CBC, we’re focused on celebrating the very best in Canadian talent,” said Kirstine Stewart, executive vice-president, English Services. “CBC Live is a great way for Canadians to connect to the entertainment scene in our country online – easy access for the entertainment lover anywhere in Canada.”
