Silver Spring, Md. – Discovery Communications, the Silver Spring-based media company behind such cable TV staples as the Discovery Channel, TLC and Animal Planet, said on Tuesday it has expanded its streaming video deal with Netflix.
Under the two-year agreement, Netflix members will be able to instantly watch a wider variety of prior-season series and specials, such as Discovery’s Man vs. Wild, TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress and Animal Planet’s River Monsters (pictured). Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Rebecca Glashow, Discovery’s senior vice president of digital distribution, said the deal “provides us with programming flexibility and lets loyal and potential fans catch up and discover content.”
