Social games company King.com has expanded its North American presence by opening an office in San Francisco, and has appointed Jong Woo as King.com’s U.S. senior business development director.
The company also announced it has reached two milestones: with nearly 200 games across its online, Facebook and mobile destinations, King.com has surpassed one billion gameplays a month, and it has become one of the top ten largest developers on Facebook, with AppData reporting 17.6 million monthly active users.
Riccardo Zacconi, chief operating officer of King.com, said the San Francisco office will be the operations center for North American business development initiatives for the company. King.com also is opening an office in Romania, which will be the center of the company’s mobile game development operations.
The company is perhaps best known for Bubble Saga and Bubble Witch Saga, which together have generated over 600 million gameplays on Facebook.
Jong Woo most recently served as senior business development executive at Blockdot, an interactive agency specializing in branded entertainment and advergaming. Before that he was president of Gamelab, home of popular casual games including Diner Dash and Jojo’s Fashion Show.
The two new addresses join King.com’s existing offices in London, Hamburg, Stockholm and Milan.
