McLean Va. – USA Today, the national newspaper of McLean-based Gannett, said its Sports Media Group has acquired mixed-martial arts site MMAjunkie.com, as well as its related editorial content, including a daily radio show. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Dann Stupp, the site’s editor-in-chief, as well as its remaining editorial staff will remain in place.

“This is an exciting acquisition for us, and one that greatly enhances the editorial capabilities of the USA Today Sports Media Group in covering mixed martial arts across all platforms,” said Tom Beusse, president of the group.

MMAjunkie.com attracts more than one million unique visitors a month, and also produces the daily podcast/radio show called MMAjunkie.com Radio.

USA Today created its Sports Media Group in January. The group encompasses all sports initiatives across USA Today, as well as Gannett’s 81 community newspaper properties, 23 broadcast television stations, HighSchoolSports.net and BNQT.com.
