Slacker Inc. today announced a content partnership with ABC News Radio that will add customizable personal interest stories, including commentary from ABC’s Good Morning America and other sources, to the audio options available to Slacker Personal Radio listeners.

The Lifestyle stations will go live in early 2012 and will span topics like healthy living, relationships, employment, fashion, technology, religion/spirituality and consumer news.

Just like listeners can do with individual songs on the music channels, all users can skip over segments. Those who pay for Slacker Radio Plus and Slacker Premium Radio subscriptions additionally can create their own custom stations from all of the available content.

“ABC is excited to offer Slacker fans a new listening option that can be customized and personalized,” said Steve Jones, vice president and general manager, ABC News Radio. “This unique radio offering will allow listeners to enjoy lifestyle content whenever and wherever they want.”

Slacker already had a separate deal that enables users to listen to an exclusive ABC News station and for paid subscribers to add brief hourly information updates to any Slacker station.

“Slacker listeners love customization, whether it is for music, news or sports,” said Jonathan Sasse, senior vice president of marketing at Slacker. “Now that we will be offering this new lifestyle content we can give our listeners the unique ability to select and hear talk radio featuring programming that is most important, interesting and relevant to their daily lives.”

ABC News Radio delivers hourly newscasts and breaking news coverage to more than 1,800 affiliates nationwide and reaches approximately 77 million people each week.
