Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard are set to engage in a live online chat Sunday to discuss their new horror movie, The Cabin in the Woods, which has its world premiere at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin tomorrow, March 9. The event is being hosted by multiplatform premium service Epix.
Fans of the two are legion, and they all are invited to submit questions for Whedon (the film’s producer/writer) and Goddard (writer/director) via EpixHD.com, HitFix.com and through the Facebook pages for Epix, Lionsgate and HitFix, where participants also can chat among themselves. The discussion will be moderated by HitFix film editor Drew McWeeny, who promises to keep spoilers at a minimum. It starts March 11 at 1ET/noon CT, live from SXSW in Austin.
Writing about the movie and event in a blog post, McWheeny said, “I think it’s smart and fun and, more than anything, makes a great case for why we all need a little red meat in our cinematic diet. I am excited for people to get a look at the film, but more than that, I’m thrilled that I’m going to get to serve as the moderator for what I hope should be a freewheeling dialogue between these guys and the audience.”
The interactive forum is the latest in the Epix Live series, which has hosted previous live Q&A sessions with Kevin Smith, Seth MacFarlane, Lewis Black, William Shatner and other talented people with large and very devoted fan bases.
Lionsgate will release The Cabin in the Woods in theaters everywhere on April 13. A Mutant Enemy production presented by Lionsgate, it stars Kristen Connolly, Fran Kranz, Anna Hutchison, Chris Hemsworth, Jesse Williams, Richard Jenkins, and Bradley Whitford.
Epix is a joint venture among Viacom Inc., its Paramount Pictures unit, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. and Lionsgate. The premium entertainment service is available on television, video-on-demand, online and on consumer electronic devices.
