Fandango is now the official online and mobile movie ticketing partner for Yahoo Movies, an arrangement that puts Fandango right in front of Yahoo’s 30 million U.S. users.
This comes shortly after Fandango signed a deal with Regency Theatres and with AMC Theatres, an agreement that added 3,000 screens to the ticketing company’s nationwide network of movie theaters, raising its total to nearly 20,000 screens.
Besides immediate and advance ticketing, Fandango also enables users to search and select a film, then plan where and when to see it. Its site adds reviews, commentary, celebrity interviews and trailers to the offering. Fandango’s movie ticketing apps have been downloaded 22 million times for Apple’s iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone 7 and other platforms.
Some theaters are capable of accepting Fandango’s reserve seating and paperless mobile ticketing.
Kenneth Fuchs, vice president of the Yahoo Media Network and head of the Entertainment, Sports, and Games Group, said, “Fandango will enhance our current theater reach and provide a best in class online and mobile solution to movie ticketing.”
Fandango is owned by Comcast Corp.’s Comcast Interactive Media.
