Comic-Con parent company Wizard World Inc. announced that John Macaluso has been named CEO, filling the vacancy left when Gareb Shamus resigned in December. Macaluso has been a member of Wizard World’s board since May 2011.
Macaluso most recently was owner of California Concepts, a clothing company that made private label products for numerous retailers that ranged from Wal-mart Stores Inc. to Barneys New York. He sold the business in 2007.
Mike Mathews, Wizard World chairman, said, “John’s previous experience at founding and building a hundred-million dollar apparel company, contacts and entrepreneurial skills will certainly help the Wizard World brand expand its operations and sales base.”
The company’s next Wizard World Comic-Con event will be held in Toronto on April 14-15.
