As if anyone needed more evidence that infrastructure doesn’t need to be physically on-site, open source cloud platform specialist Eucalyptus Systems has closed a $30 million Series C round of funding led by Institutional Venture Partners (IVP), with participation by existing investors including Benchmark Capital, BV Capital and New Enterprise Associates.
Eucalyptus said the round was oversubscribed. It brings the company’s total capital raised to $55.5 million, which goes to drive product innovation, sales, and customer support.
Eucalyptus customers include Amazon Web Services, Wipro Infotech, Plinga, PUMA, USDA, USASpending.gov, and CETC32 for its Hua-Cloud offering in China.
Steve Harrick, general partner later-stage venture capital and growth equity firm IVP, joins Eucalyptus’ board of directors. “Eucalyptus has created the most powerful on-premise IaaS solution in the cloud industry, and in return it has experienced significant customer and partner growth,” he said. “Eucalyptus’ leadership and track record of success make them a welcome partner and we look forward to working with their team to build a revolutionary business.”
