Chicago – Stirring up buzz around the Internet, Groupon is running a national deal seeking $1,000 to name your baby “Clembough.”

The “deal” immediately succeeded as a marketing ploy, even if nobody opted to ante up. As of mid-morning, however, seven people had purchased it.

Preparing for pranksters and buyer’s remorse, Groupon included the caveat, “If you fail to contact Groupon on or before the expiration date to have your progeny anointed Clembough, we will reject you and refund every penny of the purchase price.”

Also in the fine print, the company wrote: “Any attempt to name your child `Clembough’ independent of this exclusive Groupon will be recognized by the world as a cheap imitation.”  The deal is set to expire at midnight ET.
