LOS ANGELES (May 23, 2016) – Following on the heels of its successful winter 2015 brand marketing campaign, Fandango, the nation’s leading digital destination for all things movies and a unit of NBCUniversal, will roll out a new summer campaign featuring Saturday Night Live star Kenan Thompson asMiles Mouvay, the company’s brand ambassador (and the world’s biggest movie fan). Fandango’s spots debut tonight, with more than a dozen new commercials planned for TV, online, mobile, outdoor and in-theater, including its first-ever spots for the company’s new premium on-demand video service, FandangoNOW, formerly M-GO.
With the goal of super-serving fans throughout a film’s entire lifecycle, Fandango acquired M-GO, from Technicolor and DreamWorks Animation in January 2016 and rebranded it as FandangoNOW in March. FandangoNOW offers a massive digital library of movies and next-day TV shows for purchase and rental on a wide variety of connected TVs, over-the-top (OTT) and mobile devices, and on its site, FandangoNOW.com.
“The timing was right to extend our campaign with Miles Mouvay to support this summer’s blockbuster theatrical releases and create awareness for our new FandangoNOW on demand video service,” says Adam Rockmore, Fandango SVP Head of Marketing & Communications. “Since Miles is the world’s biggest movie fan, it was a natural fit for him to be the biggest fan of movies on all platforms, especially FandangoNOW, which offers consumers a whole new world of entertainment choices.”
Fandango partnered with Los Angeles-based advertising agency and production company Stun Creative for the 360° campaign for Miles Mouvay, who was born in a movie theater and carried home in an extra-large popcorn bucket. The first four 30-second comedic spots promoting both Fandango and FandangoNOW (“Origin Story,” “So Glad You Asked,” “Miles Pet” and “Sorcery”) debut Monday and can be found here: LINK
“I was a long-time Fandango fan before they asked me to play Miles Mouvay,” admits Kenan Thompson. “When I’m at home with my family, moviegoing is our favorite summer pastime, so it’s a blast for me to bring to life Fandango’s brand ambassador once again. I also love catching up at home on the movies I missed at the theater, so it’s perfect for me to also promote FandangoNOW in the new campaign.”
Among the surprise guest stars making appearances in the campaign is Kel Mitchell, who co-starred with Thompson on TV’s All That and Kenan & Kel in the mid-1990s. Kel is reunited with Kenan in a Miles Mouvay spot entitled “Origin,” recalling how the two friends met at a movie theater during a 1993 screening of “Jurassic Park” and then facing off in film fandom trivia.
“While sitting on the living room couch on ‘Kenan & Kel,’ Kenan and I used to quote lines from our favorite movies in between scenes,” recalls Mitchell, “so to be able to do that again with my good friend Kenan on the Miles Mouvay couch for Fandango was such a good time!”
