Palo Alto, Calif. – Facebook will acquire Hot Potato, a
start-up focused on chat applications for live events, for between $10 million
and $15 million, people familiar with the deal told All Things D.
Founded in
2009, Hot Potato has received $1.4 million in funding to date, from investors
including RRE Ventures, Betaworks and Ron Conway.
TechCrunch notes that Hot
Potato has recently shifted from a location check-in model to one where users
can generally check-in about whatever they are doing.
