Los Angeles – Veteran entertainment industry trade
publication The Hollywood Reporter on Monday announced plans to downsize from a
daily to a weekly print publication format in November. "Its top editors
and executives all agreed: to save The Reporter, a mere refocusing of the
business model would not do; they needed to eviscerate it," The New York
Times reported.
The struggling publication was recently acquired from Nielsen
by e5 Global Media.
The new glossy weekly will reportedly include
"analytical and feature articles and photo spreads," and be
complemented by "an aggressive and redesigned Web operation built around
breaking news," The Times reports.
"It’s our negligence — the way
we’ve served up our content over the last couple of years has allowed some really
poor competitors to emerge," e5 Global Media CEO Richard Beckman told The
Times.
"But we are going to rectify that starting right now."
