Sunnyvale, Calif. – Yahoo (NASD: YHOO) is expected to announce on
Tuesday that it will lay off 650-700 employees, mostly within its U.S.
operations, All Things D reported, citing sources at the company. The layoffs
are said to hit heaviest at Yahoo’s product division, and are scheduled to be
completed by early afternoon on Tuesday.
Rumors have been circulating that
Yahoo would announce a round of layoffs for several weeks now, with TechCrunch
initially reporting in November that the company would cut 20% of its workforce
— or some 2,800 employees.
Yahoo denied that figure at the time as
"misleading and inaccurate."
