Redwood City, Calif. – Kabam, a developer of massively
multiplayer social games, announced on Thursday that it has raised $30 million
in a third round of venture capital financing.
Redpoint Ventures and Intel
Capital led the investment round; previous backer Canaan Partners also
participated.
Redwood City, Calif.-based Kabam says it is developing social
games that cater to a more core gamer demographic, rather than the casual
titles that predominate. Its games include "Kingdoms of Camelot" and
"Glory of Rome."
The company will use the funds to expand its
studios, and make targeted acquisitions.
