New York – Kickstarter, an online crowd-sourced fundraising
platform for filmmakers, artists and creative endeavors, has raised $10 million
in venture capital financing, All Things D reports.
Participants in the
investment round, which was completed a year ago but only disclosed this week,
included Union Square Ventures, Betaworks and angel investors including Jack
Dorsey; Zach Klein; Caterina Fake; Scott Heiferman; Josh Stylman; Peter
Hershberg; Joi Ito; Chris Sacca; Josh Schacter; Matt Haughey; Josh and Jared
Kusnher; Chris Kaskie; and comedian David Cross.
Founded in 2009, New
York-based Kickstarter has helped fund projects including documentary films,
music albums, theatrical productions and pop-up restaurants.
