Palo Alto, Calif. – The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has
rejected an appeal from the Winklevoss twins, who were seeking a new settlement
with Facebook over charges that founder Mark Zuckerberg stole their idea when
they were all students at Harvard, PaidContent reported. The Winklevosses and
partner Divya Narendra already won a settlement over the dispute, valued at $65
million in 2008.
In their recent suit, the Winklevosses had argued that they
were misled at that time about the value of Facebook shares, and deserved a
larger sum.
"[The Winklevosses] made a deal that appears quite favorable
in light of recent market activity," reads the opinion from Ninth Circuit
chief judge Alex Kozinski.
"For whatever the reason, they now want to back
out. Like the district court, we see no basis for allowing them to do so. At
some point, litigation must come to an end. That point has now been
reached."
