The best games shown at E3 2011, as determined by the Game Critics Awards, were announced today. As had been expected, BioShock Infinite was the big winner, which will further increase anticipation for the title’s mid-2012 release.
BioShock Infinite (Irrational Games/2K Games) claimed the all-important Best of Show award as well as being named top of the Original Game, PC Game, and Action/Adventure categories for a total of four awards.
Several other games made a good impression on the 35 judges and garnered two awards each, including Battlefield 3 (DICE/EA Games), The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim ((Bethesda Game Studios/Bethesda), and Sound Shapes (Queasy Games/SCEA).
Best Hardware went to the PlayStation Vita, Sony Computer Entertainment’s handheld gaming and entertainment device, which will be available before the end of the year. PlayStation Vita features both front and rear touchpads and cameras, meaning it will support augmented reality and other applications.
