MetroPCS Communications Inc. and Rhapsody have signed an agreement that puts Rhapsody’s streaming music service on compatible MetroPCS’s Android phones. As with all MetroPCS services, no long-term contracts are required.

MetroPCS has 9 million customers, many of whom find its prepaid service convenient since it does not require a credit card.

Rhapsody Unlimited Music is available on the MetroPCS $60 monthly rate, which also includes unlimited talk, text, Web access and other features. Subscribers will be able to play their choice of more than 12 million songs whenever and as often as they like, as long as they don’t mind a Warner Music Group-sized hole in that catalog. WMG has declined to participate in the mobile deal. Subscribers also can download songs to play when they’re not connected, although those songs disappear if the subscription is cancelled.

“Rhapsody Unlimited Music is an affordable and personalized service that aligns with MetroPCS’s proposition of delivering the freedom, flexibility and overall value that people demand,” said Jon Irwin, president of Rhapsody.

Rhapsody already has deals with Verizon and AT&T, but as Billboard points out, customers pay for it as a separate charge instead of having it bundled.

“Our customers want a rich entertainment experience, and music tops their charts,” said Tom Keys, president and COO of MetroPCS. “Rhapsody Unlimited Music service not only delivers ‘music for all’ but also gives consumers convenient access to their music collections on our expanding portfolio of Android devices.”
