Clear Channel announced the appointment of Bob Stohrer to chief marketing officer of Clear Channel Digital, in which role he will report to Brian Lakamp, president of Clear Channel Digital.
Stohrer will be responsible for national marketing plans, brand execution and social marketing efforts for Clear Channel Digital with a particular focus on Clear Channel’s digital radio service iHeartRadio.
He joins Clear Channel having most recently served as vice president of corporate marketing at Sprint Nextel, where he was integral to the design and implementation of the prepaid multi-brand strategy initiated by the company in 2009 following its acquisition of Virgin Mobile USA. Stohrer (pictured) also led the consumer-facing marketing efforts of brands including Virgin and Boost Mobile, and headed Virgin’s cause marketing effort, The Re*Generation, which focused on youth homelessness. Among the various sponsorship initiatives he managed was the Virgin Mobile Music Festival and its title sponsorship of Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball Tour.
Prior to Sprint Nextel, Stohrer held executive positions at companies including Virgin Mobile and the National Football League properties.
“We operate in a rapidly expanding market and we need someone with the agile talent to respond and capitalize on new opportunities,” Lakamp said in a statement. “Bob’s extensive experience in both brand positioning and creative development brings the innovative vision and tactical expertise that will increase brand awareness, drive growth and unlock our full potential moving forward. We look forward to the leadership and insight he will bring to the Clear Channel Digital team.”
