New York
– Barnes & Noble (NYSE: BKS) this week provided a host of updates for its Nook e-book
reader, including enhanced Wi-Fi connectivity, a basic Web browser, and the
first Android-based games and applications for the device.

The Nook will now automatically
connect to in-store Wi-Fi at Barnes & Noble stores, and allow owners to access
the beta Read In Store feature — browsing complete e-books at no cost for up
to an hour per day.

Nook owners can also now play two Android-based games on
the device, chess and sudoku.

Finally, Barnes & Noble said the Nook v1.3
software will provide faster page turns and an enhanced home screen.
