San Francisco
– Simon Fuller, the creator of reality shows including "American
Idol" and "So You Think You Can Dance," is responsible for sales
of over 160 million songs on Apple’s (NASD: AAPL) iTunes Store, Wired.com reported. "While
many in the record business have butted heads with Apple over the years, Fuller
made a deal with iTunes to promote the availability of American Idol tracks
from within the show and to feature the tracks prominently within the store,"
noted Wired, which calculated that 160 million tracks sold works out to at
least $56 million for Apple, and $88 million for Fuller’s 19 Entertainment.
