Los Angeles
– Sprout Social, a provider of social media marketing and management services
for businesses, has raised a first round of funding from
Lightbank, TechCrunch reported.

While the amount was not disclosed, TechCrunch noted that Lightbank typically invests less than $1 million.

Sprout Social’s platform lets businesses monitor and
manage their social media presences on sites including Facebook, Twitter, Yelp
and Foursquare.

The company will use the funds for its formal launch
this spring; the service is currently in a closed beta.
